It is with great sadness that we join the World Union of Progressive Judaism and Canada's Jewish community in mourning the passing of Rabbi Dow Marmur. Rabbi Marmur has left an incomparable legacy in the world of progressive Judaism as a rabbinic leader, scholar, educator, author, and theologian.

As an active and valued member of our Advisory Committee, Rabbi Marmur spoke at the launch of JSpaceCanada in June 2011 and was our frequent guest at conferences and seminars. He enriched our community with his profound insights on issues facing Israel and the Jewish world.

"Dow Marmur had a huge impact on me, my family and our entire community. I was honoured to be on the Holy Blossom Pulpit Committee that brought him to Toronto in 1983, and I remain grateful to him as a valued mentor and friend who encouraged me throughout my professional career. Dow left a huge and lasting legacy for all of progressive Judaism, and helped people embrace progressive Zionism enthusiastically." – Dr Karen Mock, President of JSpaceCanada from 2016 - 2021

Rabbi Marmur will be sorely missed by all who knew him and learned from him. May his memory forever be a blessing.
