JSpaceCanada is at an inflection point. As the most recent Canadian Jewish Studies survey shows, Canadian Jews are reporting less attachment to Israel, especially post-October 7.

The reasons for this are likely plentiful - complexity, disconnect from mainstream Jewish institutions, the devastation in Gaza following more than six months of a war with no clear strategy or end-game.

But we know that there is a segment of Jewry, in Israel and the diaspora, that is growing more attached to their version of Israel - one of supremacy, messianism, and authoritarianism. We need to be the pro-democracy, pro-peace alternative.
