To the JSpaceCanada Community,

It’s been a busy few months since we last convened as a community and we wanted to give you an update on what we’ve been up to.

The JSpaceCanada team has been immersed in an extensive period of strategic planning. We’ve been speaking with volunteers, donors, community allies, and next generation leaders to help us co-create a vision for JSpaceCanada’s future. If you haven’t already done so, we invite you to contribute to our stakeholder survey before it closes on May 20th.

As an all-volunteer organization, this process has been no small feat. But we’re committed to doing everything we can to ensure JSpaceCanada has the tools it needs to grow in size, get louder, and become more active.

We all agree that the need for a strong pro-peace, progressive Jewish voice in Canada has never been so pressing. With so much at stake, we’re committed to getting this right. That’s why we'll be taking some time offline to focus on capacity-building, organizational strategy, and long-term planning.

The decision to focus our energy internally has not been an easy one, especially amidst the resurgent violence in Israel-Palestine and the many issues facing progressive Jews in Canada. But we believe the best way to make a lasting, sustainable impact in the future is through strengthening our foundation now.

So, what does this mean?

  • While our communication lines will stay open, we will be temporarily pausing our programming, events and public commentary until our strategic plan is complete in September.

Our commitment to you:

  • After completing this process in the Fall, we will share with you our completed strategic plan and detailed next steps as an organization. During this time, we will resume our public presence and launch a refreshed JSpaceCanada – one that’s louder, stronger, and more capable than ever to address the many challenges we face.

Until then, we are asking for your trust and patience as we take steps to strengthen JSpaceCanada’s foundation and build capacity to ensure its long-term vibrancy.

As always, we welcome your thoughts and questions. We remain grateful for your continued support, and we can’t wait to share with you what’s in store for the future.

With immense gratitude,

The JSpaceCanada Board
