"Our communal stage should not be used to legitimize or further advance the attacks on Israel’s democracy or on those fighting to defend it." - unXeptable

UnXeptable is a worldwide grassroots movement led by Israeli expats in support of a Jewish, democratic, and liberal Israel, currently working in over 50 cities in the world, including Toronto and Vancouver. They have called on the Jewish Federations of North America to revoke the invites of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Member of Knesset Simcha Rothman, Chair of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee from the upcoming Jewish Federations General Assembly taking place in Israel beginning April 23.

In this open letter, the group lays out the pain and hope they feel in this moment, and why it is incumbent upon our diaspora Jewish institutions to take a stand and support the majority of Israelis, former leaders of Israel’s security and defense forces, and leaders from academia, the tech industry, and civil society organizations in fighting for the future of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.

When you add your name to this call, it will be included on an open letter to Jewish Federation CEOs and communal leaders to show that there are many like us in the community - those who believe that being pro-Israel means taking a stand against dangerous judicial reforms. Those who believe that standing with hundreds of thousands of Israeli protestors is how we show our love of Israel. Those who believe that fighting for the future of Israel as Jewish, democratic, and liberal is a testament to our Zionist values.

Please add your name by Thursday, April 20 in solidarity with and in support of this courageous call, fighting for the future of the country we all love so much, and ask our local Jewish Federations to stand up for the future of Israeli democracy.
