JSpaceCanada today congratulates its executive director, Maytal Kowalski, on receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal, presented by Toronto-Danforth’s Member of Parliament, Julie Dabrusin.
The Coronation Medal program was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. It recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community in Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to our country.
In her remarks at the medal ceremony last night MP Dabrusin said of Kowalski: “sometimes we agree, and sometimes we disagree, but she is someone who is always ready to speak hard truths and frankly, stand strong in the wind. I've been really honoured to work alongside Maytal.”
“It is an honour to receive this medal and be recognized for my work with JSpaceCanada,” said Executive Director Maytal Kowalski. “The discourse in the diaspora surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is oftentimes incredibly toxic and divisive, with powerful forces on either end of the debate aiming to sow more division, hate, and fear, at a time of rising hate in Canada. To be recognized for the humane, nuanced, and empathetic position that JSpaceCanada takes with regards to the conflict should signal to all Canadians that there is a better way forward - for building bridges in our communities, for our country, and for our collective future.”
