JSpaceCanada today announces a change in its leadership, as Board Chair Joe Roberts steps down from his role. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Roberts for his dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to our cause during his tenure.

Taking over as Interim Board Chair is Maytal Kowalski. Kowalski, a Canadian-Israeli, has been dedicated to promoting peace in Israel-Palestine through a two-state solution from childhood, having moved to Israel during the Oslo peace process in the mid-90s. Her leadership comes at a crucial time for JSpaceCanada and the broader Jewish Zionist community. We are confident that her guidance and vision will steer the organization forward effectively during this transition period.

Zack Babins, currently Vice-Chair, Advocacy, will become interim Vice-Chair of the Board.

This leadership change occurs amidst an extremely difficult time for Jews worldwide. The rise in Antisemitism here at home, the immense pain and trauma following the Hamas terror attacks in Israel on October 7, and the current Israel-Hamas war have heightened concerns within our communities. We recognize that now, more than ever is a time for solidarity, understanding, and mutual support. JSpaceCanada remains steadfast in its commitment to advocate for peace, social justice, and equality for Jews and Palestinians, with a sovereign Palestinian state alongside a Jewish one.

In these challenging times, taking care of ourselves and one another is of utmost importance. We encourage our members and supporters to stay connected, engage in meaningful dialogue, and support each other. JSpaceCanada will continue to provide a platform for progressive voices within the Jewish community, fostering a culture of understanding and resilience.

We look forward to a new chapter under Ms. Kowalski’s leadership at a time where we must lead with bravery and empathy, make tough decisions, and stay more committed than ever to our mission to advance a two-state solution as the only way to bring about peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
